This year the Club held an exceptionally high profile flagship dinner at the Bradford Hotel, then Norfolk Gardens, and simultaneously a charity concert at the St Georges Hall where the famous Pakistani folk singer enthralled Bradfordians with rendition of his most popular numbers; ‘kameez teri kaali….’ ‘Dil Lagaya Tha Dill’ and ‘Kar na sake hum pyar ka.’

The Club was able to attract attendance of Rear Admiral Amjad Hussain, the then Controller of the British Navy. Who still maintains contacts with the Club.

Bradford that year had a first Muslim Lady Lord Mayor of Pakistani heritage, Naveeda Ikram, and the charity concert was to honour her charity that year.
